The Town of Hurt is seeking a detail-oriented, trustworthy Town Treasurer to manage our day-to-day financial operations and ensure compliance with all state reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Process accounts payable and ensure timely bill payment.
- Administer payroll for all employees, including tax withholdings and deductions.
- Manage employee benefits (health, retirement, etc.) and handle Virginia Retirement System (VRS) reporting.
- Complete and submit all required state HR and financial reports accurately and on time.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard public funds.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in accounting, payroll, and benefits administration (municipal/government experience a plus).
- Knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting standards, and state/local reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting/payroll software and Microsoft Office.
- High integrity, accuracy, and organizational skills.
