What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gym Monitor (Part-Time) position at Town of Huntersville?
Performs semiskilled work opening, closing, and monitoring facility operations, ensuring safety and cleanliness of facilities and equipment, and related work as required. Work is performed under limited supervision, typically during evening and weekend hours. Hours may vary seasonally and based on the Athletic calendar.
Availability during required schedule of Monday–Friday from 5:00pm–10:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am–9:30pm.The following duties are those considered most essential to the position. This does not preclude the delegation of other duties considered as necessary by management to successfully complete an assignment or project.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Or a combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills to complete the essential functions and job responsibilities of this position. This position’s physical requirements involve medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities may be required: balancing, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and/or walking.
Work has frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. recreation center/gym).

- Promotes good relations with citizens using the parks and recreation facilities.
- Ensures that facilities and surrounding areas are clean and ready for use.
- Ensures that all bathrooms are stocked, sanitary, and clean.
- Ensures compliance with gym rules and regulations, assists individuals and groups using gyms and ensures safety and security of parks/gyms and patrons.
- Sets up facilities and equipment for use and special events and restores to original set up after use.
- Performs routine opening and closing procedures; turns facility lights on and off.
- Maintains various attendance information as required.
- Consults with Athletic Coordinator when any issues arise.
- May use facility software system to register participants and check schedules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
