Responsibilities
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws by patrolling designated areas to deter and respond to criminal activity
- Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports in accordance with procedural law and evidence law standards
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, administer first aid or CPR when necessary, and coordinate with emergency services
- Perform traffic stops, issue citations, and manage traffic control to ensure road safety and compliance with traffic laws
- Execute arrest procedures safely and professionally while adhering to use of force policies and conflict management protocols
- Conduct surveillance operations, search and seizure activities, and animal handling when required for criminal investigations or loss prevention efforts
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, arrests, and other law enforcement activities
Requirements
- Valid certification as a police officer with current state licensing or accreditation
- Proven experience in law enforcement, criminal investigation, or related fields such as military service or security work
- Knowledge of procedural law, criminal law, evidence law, search and seizure law, traffic laws, immigration law, and local ordinances
- Demonstrated ability in report writing with attention to detail and clarity
- Physical conditioning sufficient for patrol duties including standard passenger car operation and firearms handling in law enforcement scenarios
- Training in use of force protocols, conflict management techniques, first aid (including CPR), fire arms handling, surveillance methods, and search procedures
- Ability to handle animals responsibly when required for investigations or community engagement
- Strong communication skills with the capacity to manage stressful situations effectively
