What are the responsibilities and job description for the Code Enforcement Officer position at Town of Hiram?
The Town of Hiram is seeking a qualified part-time Code Enforcement Officer. The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for the administration and enforcement of all Town ordinances, as well as applicable State and Federal laws, including building, zoning, land use, and shoreland zoning regulations. Key responsibilities are conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance with building permits and land use ordinances. Investigate complaints regarding violations, issue violation notices and follow through to ensure compliance.
The ideal candidate would possess 2-4 years of experience in construction trade, building inspection or municipal code enforcement. Be proficient in Microsoft Office/Excel, strong communication, detail orientated and be committed to ensuring good working relationships with all constituencies. Additionally, the ideal candidate would possess a high school education or equivalent, and a valid Maine Driver’s license. Municipal Certification must be obtained within twelve (12) months from date of hire.
This is a part-time position averaging 10-12 hours per week. Competitive salary depending on experience and certification.
