What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pottery Instructor position at Town of Herndon, VA?

The Town has an immediate need for an Instructor for our Pottery Classes in the Parks and Recreation department.
In this position, you will provide the following service to our community:
Instruct various Pottery classes geared towards the general public to include; children, teens and/or adults.
- Duties and responsibilities:
- Supervises, instructs, plans lessons in pottery techniques including hand building, wheel, and glazing.
- Maintains program records to include attendance.
- Properly load, unload, and working knowledge of how to use and properly maintain a kiln.
- Responsible for keeping work areas neat; attends to proper storage of pottery supplies, oversees inventory reporting proper care, maintenance, and purchasing needs to supervisor.
What you will need:
- Ability to create your own class and curriculum.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concise with the general public.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Previous experience teaching pottery.
- Requires light to medium physical effort. Lifting 10 pounds and occasionally 25 pounds. Some bending, stooping, and lifting will be required.

Due to the nature of a government providing services to the public all duties of this position are required to be fulfilled at the designated worksite in the town. No remote work is available.
Salary : $18 - $25
