This is a Full-time position, 9:00 - 5:00 M-F, with 1 hour unpaid lunch. Rate of Pay: $29.01/Hour
Role Description This position reports directly to the Director of Building and Fire Prevention. Assists the Director in inspecting buildings, issuing building permits, enforcing state and municipal building codes, and investigating reported violations of the Town Codes pertaining to land and property use, and other duties as related to the position.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must possess or successfully achieve NYS Certification as a Code Enforcement Officer; must have experience in plan review and inspections. Experience with enforcement of the International Code Council (ICC) Codes and the New York State Supplements ideal. This position falls under the Monroe County Civil Service Rules and is classified as Competitive.
- Knowledge of construction practices, materials, and safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and report-writing abilities.
- Effective communication skills for working with property owners, contractors, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple inspections and tasks.
