What We Need
The Town of Harrisburg is accepting applications in the Economic Development Department for the position of Economic Development Manager. An employee in this class coordinates and administers assigned economic development programs, services, and activities. The work involves independent initiative, proactive outreach, and relationship-driven engagement with prospective and existing businesses. The employee must demonstrate strong customer service skills, a passion for helping business owners, and the ability to communicate and promote Harrisburg as a business-friendly community. The role also includes participating in the development of departmental goals, policies, and procedures related to business attraction and economic development. The employee conducts special projects as assigned, providing research, analysis, and recommendations to support economic growth. Work is performed in collaboration with the Economic Development Director, Town departments, external partners, and the public. The employee must exercise discretion, maintain effective relationships, and complete work requiring attention to detail and timely execution.
Desireable Candidate
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in business administration, urban planning, public administration, or related field, and three to five years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, business attraction, sales, or a related area involving relationship building and community engagement; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
