This position serves as the Town Manager’s chief deputy, providing administrative, operational, and financial leadership across all Town departments.
Major Job Duties
- Assist the Town Manager in the coordination and supervision of all municipal departments and operations.
- Oversee administrative and financial functions, including budgeting, procurement, contract administration, and organizational performance.
- Prepare and manage complex financial reports, projections, and policy analyses.
- Serve as Acting Town Manager in the Manager’s absence, exercising delegated authority as permitted under RSA 37:6.
- Support department heads in developing and implementing performance measures and operational improvements.
- Coordinate communication, presentations, and reports to the Selectboard.
- Promote transparency, customer service, and responsiveness in all municipal interactions.
- Represent the Town in meetings with residents, businesses, Dartmouth College, and regional organizations.
- Lead or oversee special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Town Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree or CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible management experience in municipal or public administration, including financial management and personnel supervision.
- Proven experience in community engagement, project management, and intergovernmental coordination.
