CAREER OPPORTUNITY | Shared Health Inspector
The Town of Hamilton is seeking a motivated, community-focused individual to serve as a Shared Health Inspector, supporting regional public health services serving Hamilton, Wenham, Rockport, and Essex. This position plays a key role in protecting public health through inspections, enforcement, education, and regional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct public health and environmental inspections in accordance with state and local regulations
Inspect food establishments, housing, pools, camps, septic systems, and other regulated facilities
Investigate complaints and support Boards of Health across participating communities
Assist with regional public health initiatives and standardized inspection practices
Maintain inspection records, reports, and compliance documentation
Collaborate with municipal staff, community partners, and regional public health teams
Qualifications:
Degree in public health, environmental science, or related field preferred
Experience in local public health, environmental health, or inspectional services preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Position Details:
Full-time, flexible schedule (some evenings/weekends may be required)
Based in Hamilton with travel to partner communities
Grant-funded position through the Massachusetts Public Health Excellence Shared Services Program
Salary: Up to $60,000 annually
