DEPARTMENT: PARKS AND RECREATION
REPORTS TO: PARKS AND RECRATION DIRECTOR
LOCATION: 32 CHURCH STREET
HOURS: UNDER 20 HOURS PER WEEK (SEASONAL)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, with additional guidance from both the Parks Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor, the role involves the daily opening and closing of park gates and restrooms during the seasonal months.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Opens park gates daily by dawn.
- Closes park gates daily at dusk.
- Opens and closes restrooms at Bittner Park and Jacobs Beach in conjunction with gates.
- Assures all vehicles vacate parks, prior to locking gates.
- Reports any damage to parks, facilities, equipment, and/or restrooms to Parks and Recreation Director immediately.
- Contacts Police Department for any damage or issues requiring immediate attention.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Distribute notes on car windshields that are left in the parking lot before closing time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of park rules and policies.
- Knowledge of Town of Guilford roads and parks locations.
- Skills in dealing with the public.
- Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends, seven days a week.
- Ability to cover additional shifts, if needed.
- Ability to open and close stage on weekends, if needed.
- Ability to read and comprehend oral and written instructions.
- Ability to follow all safety instructions and to perform work in a safe manner.
- Ability to work with the public pleasantly, tactfully, and informatively.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all Town requirements and policies.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to treat other employees and those with whom they come in contact, including the public, with respect, courtesy, and professionalism.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Must possess and maintain a Connecticut Driver License.
