What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reference Librarian (Part-time on Weekends) @ Perrot Library position at Town of Greenwich?
Provide reference, readers’ advisory, and technology support to adult and young adult patrons. Assist users in accessing print and digital resources while delivering excellent customer service.
Schedule includes alternating Saturdays (9 AM–5 PM) and 3–4 Sundays per month (1-5 PM).Master’s degree in Library or Information Science (ALA-accredited).
Proven knowledge of library operations and procedures.
Demonstrated knowledge of adult and young adult literature and services.
Proven understanding of library principles, resources, and best practices.
Demonstrated proficiency with online databases and library technologies.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Effective time management and prioritization skills.
Proven ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse patrons, volunteers, and community groups.
Delivers reference and readers’ advisory services in person, by phone, email, and mail.
Assists patrons with print and digital resources across all formats.
Supports public technology use, including computers, printers, tablets, and e-readers.
Troubleshoots routine equipment and technology issues,
Communicates library policies and procedures clearly and effectively.
Contributes to collection development and materials selection.
Creates displays, book lists, and bibliographies; contributes to website and social media content.
Assists with reports, meeting materials, and communications as needed.
Stays current with trends and developments in library services.
Supports Town and Library policies and philosophies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.All positions may be subject to an interview process. The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be invited to participate in the examination, or any part thereof.
All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position.
The Town of Greenwich has implemented a policy of background investigations for all full and part time positions prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for outside candidates. The investigation will only be conducted as the last step prior to an offer. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate's further consideration.
