What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Control Officer position at Town of Greece?
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the retrieval, reunification, shelter admission, and protection of lost pets and menacing dogs. Other responsibilities include care and husbandry of dogs and cats admitted at the Town’s animal shelter and providing supportive services to keep people and pets together. Responsibilities also involve enforcement of laws and ordinances pertaining to the care, control, and licensing of companion animals, and the initiation of court actions for violations of the Town’s dog ordinances and Article 7 of NYS Agriculture and Markets Law. This position addresses some wildlife issues for residents of the Town, specifically for wildlife in the living quarters of a home. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, a senior level staff member.
MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma PLUS possession of a New York State Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Hours: Tuesday – Friday (12:30 PM – 9:00 PM), Saturday (08:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Salary: $51,659 - $73,642
