Reports to: Sergeants/Chief

Frequent internal contacts: Town of Frisco Staff, Frequent external contacts: Community Members Business Owners Visitors

Job Location: Onsite

This hourly/non-exempt position enforces state statutes and municipal ordinances to protect and serve the Town. Patrols the Town to maintain order, prevent crimes, and protect life and property. Responds to calls for service, conducts preliminary and follow up investigations through interviews and gathering and securing of evidence.

  • Prepares a variety of routine and special police forms and reports.
  • Maintains a safe, orderly traffic flow by directing traffic, issuing citations for violations and investigating traffic accidents.
  • Performs security checks for homes, neighborhoods, businesses and other property.
  • Makes arrests as warranted and attends and testifies in court as required.
  • Files complaint and obtains arrest warrant.
  • Serves arrest warrant, searches subject.
  • Subdues resistant subject if necessary; engages in vehicular or foot pursuit as necessary.
  • Advises suspects of their Miranda rights.
  • Conducts search for evidence in motor vehicle.
  • Escorts arrested persons to Detention Center for booking.
  • Completes arrest reports.
  • Prepares charges for court docket.
  • Prepares evidence for submission in court.
  • Prepares criminal case file for prosecutor.
  • Testifies in court as needed.
  • Conducts an active crime prevention program involving schools, civic organizations and other organizations.
  • Maintains all police equipment in good working order and reports malfunctions and/or damage.
  • Provides information to assist with criminal investigation by other agencies.
  • Provides crowd control assistance during special events in the area.
  • Keeps uniform and accessories in good condition.
  • Checks vehicles against stolen vehicle reports.
  • Serves as a public relations liaison between the citizens and the Police Department; attends neighborhood association and other organizations’ meetings to answer questions and provide information relating to police events and departmental responses; communicates frequently with citizens in assigned areas to get information and evidence regarding problems and concerns; assists citizens in finding solutions to problems; advises citizens on crime prevention and self protection methods.
  • Collaborates with other governmental and non-governmental organizations and individuals to resolve problems; prepares crime information maps and provides prevention techniques for utilization by neighborhood watch groups and others.
  • Attends related training classes and schools.
  • Investigates complaints of family disputes and public disturbances and restores or maintains order, using physical force if necessary.
  • Conducts preliminary or complete investigations.
  • Locates and questions witnesses and potential witnesses.
  • Identifies suspects through records and pictures.
  • Studies background, rap sheet, and MO of suspects prior to interrogations.
  • Interrogates suspects in the field; takes statements or depositions.
  • Serves search warrants and searches premises or property.
  • Sketches crime scene and records measurements.
  • Marks physical evidence for later identification; sends evidence to lab for analysis; takes custody of stolen or lost property.
  • Conducts himself/herself in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
  • Exhibits proper skill in the use of firearms and in the operation of police vehicles and equipment.
  • Effectively interacts with citizens in a variety of difficult situations

  • Attends Town and departmental training and meetings as appropriate or assigned.
  • Ability to function and make good decisions in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Communicates with Town of Frisco employees, citizens, customers and vendors in a professional, courteous and timely manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Performs other job duties/responsibilities as assigned by management.

  • Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office is required

Licenses, Certifications Or Accreditations:

  • Required: Colorado P.O.S.T. law enforcement officer certification or ability to secure one within six months of hire date.
  • Required: Valid Colorado driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Required: CPR/AED & First Aid Certification (Provided by the Town within first three months of hire)

Previous Work Experience:

  • Required: 1 year prior Law Enforcement (experience evaluated on case by case basis)

Previous Supervisory Exercised:

  • n/a

Language Ability:

  • Required: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Decision Making Ability:

  • Required: Ability to function independently and make sound and reasonable decisions in the absence of supervisory guidance.
