Under direct supervision, provides reference and reader advisory services and assists with planning and presenting Library programs.• Provides reference and reader advisory services to Library patrons.
• Provides instruction and assistance in the use of the Library catalog, the Library's print and digital collections, copy and print equipment, and other resources and services.
• Assists with planning, promoting, presenting, and evaluating Library programs, including outreach services.
• Assists with the creation of displays and informational materials.
• Assists supervisor in departmental planning and preparing reports.
• Maintains an awareness of literature services and reference sources, and of public library trends, methods and ethics.
• Informs supervisor of all work activities.
• Adheres to departmental, personnel, and safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•An associates or equivalent experience in a related field is required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
•One (1) year of public library experience is preferred.KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
•Able and willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekend hours.
•Knowledge of the practices and principles of public library operations.
•Excellent English communicative skills, both oral and written, to include spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
•Skilled in using a personal computer and various other office equipment.
•Must be able to maintain good relations with the public and staff and demonstrate courtesy and tact in all situations.
•Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written directives, work well under pressure and stress, handle multiple tasks, prioritize and organize work assignments, maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor at all times.
