JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, performs professional and technical work in the areas of current planning, long-range planning, neighborhood planning, transportation planning, demographics, land use analysis, urban design, historic preservation, economic development, and other related areas.
SUPERVISION:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
- Under general supervision performs professional planning work involving the research, review, analysis and coordination of rezone, annexation, general plan, design review, conditional use permit, variance and other planning applications and related development requests. Reviews applications for compliance with the Town’s General Plan, Development Code, and other regulations and guidelines.
- Logs in and transmits new applications and submittals. Organizes and maintains hard and digital files.
- Coordinates with and acts as a liaison with task forces and study groups. Takes public comments and input on planning and development issues. Prepares reports and makes presentations to the various Boards, Public, and additional groups. Under general supervision prepares Council Action reports, ordinances, and resolutions.
- Evaluates and assists with the preparation of recommended changes to zoning ordinances. Assists with the enforcement of development codes and ordinances.
- Provides information and technical assistance with project reviews, permit and impact fees, departmental procedure, and compliance issues, as well as the Town General Plan and specific area plans.
- Answers inquiries from and aids the public, by telephone and in person, regarding development and zoning projects and current Town codes.
- Performs all other related duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in a planning related field and one (1) year of experience working in a municipal planning department or in a similar capacity; Master’s Degree in a planning related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Required:
Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License.

- Ability to perform simple math calculations including decimals, percentages, principles of fractions and interpreting graphs.
