Under the general supervision of the Events and Visitor Services Director, performs a variety of supervisory and skilled laboring tasks in support of the operation and maintenance of Town-owned fairgrounds, Events Center, and other Town infrastructure. Directly supervises staff in performance of tasks.

Pre-event preparation to include complete layout of events, verifying cleanliness of restrooms, unlocking doors, turning on lights, and conducting a final building walk through to ensure that the facility is ready to open its doors to the public.
Assist with special events and traffic control as needed
Responds to customer inquiries and complaints
Performs routine safety checks of equipment and minor maintenance activities on vehicles and equipment and maintains records of activities
Conducts safety meetings with staff
Operates heavy and light duty equipment to perform related maintenance and construction assignments
Performs general accounting duties including processes purchase orders and invoices, assists with preparation and maintenance of the annual budget coordinates purchases and spending in area of assignment
Performs a variety heavy laboring activities including the use of hand tools, light power equipment and heavy construction and maintenance equipment
Performs snow removal activities either by hand, small equipment or heavy equipment as assigned
Handling hazardous materials and chemicals including use of self-contained breathing apparatuses or respirators
Participates in hiring, training and evaluation of seasonal staff
Construction of wood, concrete, and miscellaneous facilities involving carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical wiring using accepted construction practices (routine, limited)
Performs related work as required and assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Five years of progressively responsible experience in Events, or related maintenance work with two years of experience at the crew leader or supervisory level.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Colorado Class B Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) and satisfactory driving record or valid Colorado Drivers License with ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire. Out of state candidates must have valid license with ability to obtain Colorado Commercial Drivers License within 6 months of hire. Employees with a CDL requirement as part of their job description are subject to random drug screening.

Ability to assist in the development and maintenance of goals, policies, and plans for the department in safety, personnel, and operations
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, contractors, local, state, and federal agencies, Colorado Department of Transportation, Town Staff and the public
Ability to read and interpret maps and drawings
Must be able to respond to emergency situations as needed
Must be able to work a variable “on call” work scheduled including overtime, weekends and holidays as needed
