The Town of Essex is accepting applications for the full-time position of
HIGHWAY LEADMAN
For the Essex Highway Department
Qualified applicants must:
Ø possess a Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, Class B or A; OSHA 10 Construction Card;
Ø under the direction of the Public Works Director, serve as a working supervisor overseeing various highway crews performing a wide variety of work
Ø plan and organize the activities of the department and establish priorities as needed
Ø assign work through subordinates in the functional areas of the department
Ø oversee and directs projects and emergency plans for ice and snow removal
Ø have the ability to provide a high-level of customer service to the public and to effectively interact with co-workers
Ø have the ability to be able to lift and or carry objects of 25 to 50 pounds;
Ø be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat or cold, with temperatures sufficiently high or low enough to cause marked bodily discomfort;
Salary for this position is expected to start at $37.08
