Job Description Temporary, full-time position. Reports to YES! Program Facilitator and Recreation Specialist. Works under the direction of the Program Facilitator and in conjunction with Counselors. Group Leader provides camper supervision, maintains a safe and inclusive program environment, assists with program activities, provides guidance to Counselors, and refers all parent questions/issues to the Program Facilitator.
Job Responsibilities
- Work alongside Counselors, Program Facilitator, and other Town staff to create a cohesive camping environment that serves all involved.
- Lead campers in activities and rotations, making sure campers are following the activity schedules.
- Allow Counselors to lead when they feel confident in an activity.
- Work closely with the Program Facilitator to help facilitate and implement program activities.
- Delegate tasks to Counselors, as appropriate.
- Supervise campers to ensure safety and respect.
- Provide a safe, fun, and enriching experience for all campers.
- Recognize and respond to safety hazards and problems as they arise.
- Report any issues with campers beyond your experience to the Program Facilitator. Maintain safety awareness and alertness, and ensure all campers remain with their group while in public and on camp field trips.
- Oversee Counselors and campers while in public and on field trips.
- Support campers through active listening, positive guidance, and conflict resolution.
- Engage with campers in a friendly and respectful manner.
- Help with setup and cleanup of camp areas and activities as instructed. Attend staff training and meetings in addition to Program Training.
- Follow all program protocols, procedures, rules, and expectations in accordance with Program
Training. Period of Temporary Employment 9-10 weeks between May and July; 4-5 weekdays per week; 6-8 hours per day Pay Range: $14-17/hour Updated 2/27/2026 Requirements At least 18 years of age Able to work Monday-Friday, as assigned Must pass a criminal background check Satisfactorily complete group leader training Follow program rules and expectations at all times Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with summer camp or working with children. Certification in CPR and first aid. Training 2-3 days of job-specific training will be required in advance of the summer program start date. General Staff Rules and Policies Program staff must comply with Town of Edgewood employment requirements, all summer program protocols and procedures, and wear appropriate attire as defined during training for each day of employment. Group Leader Evaluation All Group Leaders will be evaluated individually for job performance, including punctuality and dependability, friendliness, professionalism, initiative, task completion, leadership, and cooperation
Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
