What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Front Desk Attendant position at Town of East Hartford?
The Front Desk Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Senior Center. This is a part-time, grant-funded position with a regular schedule of Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Additional hours may be available to support special programs or to provide coverage for other staff.
The position performs a variety of clerical and general office duties essential to the daily functioning of the Senior Center.
This role works under the general supervision of the Senior Services Coordinator.
Salary: $18.00 per hour

- Receives oral and written instructions from supervisor.
- Assist with meal site; prepare rosters for CRT meal program,
- Answer phones and checks and responds to voicemail messages.
- Answer routine information requests.
- Conducts class/course/event registration.
- Maintains class rosters
- Basic accounting functions with regard to class/event fees.
- Interact with custodian with regard to set-up/breakdown of rooms for events.
- Makes reminder calls for Health Screenings/Foot care.
- Ticket sales.
- Registers new seniors into My Senior Center.
- Coordinate information for monthly newsletter as requested.
- Create flyers for events and makes tickets as requested.
- Prepare envelopes for mailing.
- Order office supplies.
- Re-stock informational brochures/Newsletter.
- Assist with mass mailings as requested.
- Volunteer scheduling and coordination.
- Maintain filing system.
- Reports work accomplished to supervisor.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Communicates regularly with Senior Services Coordinator and other staff regarding administrative issues.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of office technology
- Must possess friendly and professional demeanor
- Must have basic understanding of aging issues and department mission
- Ability to manage time appropriately to ensure completion of task for optimal results
High School Degree
Experience:
- Requires general office administration stills (computer, phone and customer service).
- Requires ability to be flexible in work hours.
- Requires ability to interact positively with senior population.
