Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Program Coordinator to join our team. The Teen Program Coordinator is responsible for the execution and overall supervision of all teen programming including the Community Services Department’s Teen Center program. This is a part-time position with increased hours during summer and school vacation weeks. The Teen Center meets on Fridays from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the Eldredge School.
Duties
- Oversees all Teen Center activities and ensures the safety and supervision of all participants;
- Oversees a collection of teen activities including field trips, movie nights, etc. These activities will be monthly with increased frequency during school vacation weeks;
- Ensures all participants are registered in the Department’s online registration system, and all necessary paperwork is filled out;
- Ensures that all teen programming (including Teen Center) adheres to all Department policies and procedures at all times;
- Builds trusting, positive relationships with participants and their families;
- Cultivates a welcoming, safe environment where teen participants can be themselves;
- Manages a small collection of part-time staff members and several volunteers;
- Oversees all communication regarding program updates, cancellations, etc. with participants and their families;
- Designs fun and engaging weekly Teen Center activities on topics like career development, life skills, & STEM;
- Oversees the sign-in and sign-out periods;
- Ensure facility is clean at the conclusion of Teen Center and building is locked;
- In charge of equipment inventory and makes spending recommendations to Youth Rec Supervisor;
- Other related duties as assigned and are consistent with this job.
Education and Experience
- 1-2 years of experience working with youth and teens in an educational or recreational setting is required.
- Certification in First Aid & CPR.
- Must successfully pass a Rhode Island BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation) background check.
- Must obtain a chauffeur’s license upon hire.

- Thorough knowledge of standard practices for caring for youth, and the ability to design activities based on the needs and interests of teen community.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for teens in the community.
- Ability to foster an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Willingness to drive the Department’s 15-passenger transit van for teen field trips.
