What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Assistant Part-Time position at Town of East Greenwich?
The Town of East Greenwich is looking to hire per diem Program Assistant in our Community Services Department.
Under the general direction of the Recreation Manager, the Program Assistant will assist with the general operation and execution of various recreation programs, trips and community events. 4-12 hours a week.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES:
Education and Experience
- As a hands-on employee, ensuring a safe and friendly experience for all program participants is essential;
- Program Assistant may be asked to supervise groups of participants during an activity or trip;
- Assignments may include hiking groups, trips, specialty workshops, special events;
- Program Assistant should interact with participants and promote a fun, social environment;
- Maintain a clear count and safety of participants at all times;
- Drive group trips;
- Lead group hikes;
- Other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Passion for working with adults and seniors.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Previous experience working with adults or children in a social setting preferred.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities
- Must pass a criminal background check;
- Chauffeur’s License required within 2 weeks of hire;
- Knowledge of health and safety practices and procedures for recreation programs;
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, and eagerness to interact with participants;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Must be able to lead group hikes following GPS and or maps;
- Must have basic computer and phone skills/knowledge.
