What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical/Electrical Technician position at Town of Derry?
The Town of Derry has an immediate opening for a Mechanical/Electrical Technician to repair and maintain equipment in our water/wastewater divisions. The Mechanical/Electrical Technician will have at minimum a Journeyman Electrician License and a valid Driver's License.
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
HOURLY RATE: $30.95 to $32.20
Effective July 1, 2026, hourly range increases to $35.48 to $44.90 (DOE) for a Journeyman Electrician; up to 5% additional for Master Electrician (DOE).
DUTIES: The Mechanical & Electrical Technician is responsible for technical trade work in the repair and maintenance of Department equipment. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting and maintaining water and sewer facilities equipment and controls including programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, instrumentation, and high voltage distribution; as well as working with outside vendors and contractors on projects. The Mechanical & Electrical Technician also installs new equipment including motors, pumps, alarms, monitoring devices, and generators; and verifies that systems and equipment are operating properly.
