Statement of Duties

Assist in developing and implementing all programs which provide communication, exercise, nutrition, health & wellness, relaxation, opportunity to express creative talent and fulfill basic psychological and social needs of participants and to promote general wellbeing. Analyze the preferences of participants and evaluate the effectiveness of the programs and arrange for appropriate instructors and individuals to provide programs, and to foster family and community support of the activity/program.

Supervision

Employee works under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator. Employee is familiar with the work routine and uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently. New or unusual assignments are explained by the Program Coordinator, including suggested work methods. Employee refers unusual situations to the Program Coordinator for advice and further instructions. Program Coordinator reviews work only to an extent sufficient to insure that completed work, methods used are technically accurate, and that instructions are being followed.

Employee uses judgment to locate, select, and apply the most pertinent practice, procedure, regulation, or guideline to use in a given situation. The sequence of work and/or the procedures followed vary according to the nature of the transaction and/or information involved, or sought, in a particular situation.

The position has frequent contact with the public in person, in writing, and on the telephone, to respond to inquiries or requests. Other contacts are with other town employees, vendors, and various agencies and officials.

Position Functions

Essential Functions

· Attend trainings and receive instruction to conduct programs.

· Recruit, schedule and manage volunteers.

· Coordinate special events and fundraisers.

· Assist in daily operations of the Meal-site and in the coordination of Meals on Wheels.

· May assist at the Coventry Community Food Bank as needed.

· Coordinate transportation to the Center and in the community.

· Maintain documentation of activities to meet all state and federal requirements.

· Compile and record statistics.

· Prepare marketing and advertising for events/programs.

· Assist in the main office.

· Perform other related duties as assigned by Program Coordinator.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements

The employee works in a moderately noisy office setting and is exposed to airborne particles and hostile or angry citizens up to 1/3rd of the time. Employee is required to sit up to 2/3rd of the time; stand, walk, talk, listen, use hands, and smell up to 1/3rd of the time. The employee occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds. The position has normal vision requirements. Equipment operated includes; office machines, computers and miscellaneous office equipment.

Education and Experience

Associates Degree or three years demonstrated experience in human services, recreation, nutrition, health and wellness setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A candidate for this position should have knowledge of the following:

· Modem office practices and procedures

· Computer programs and applications

· Health and Wellness programs

Skill in:

· Operating computers and office equipment

· Organization and communication

Ability to:

· Prioritize and perform multiple tasks

· Exercise considerable judgment and tact in contact with public officials and the general public.

Pay: From $18.55 per hour

Expected hours: 29.0 per week
