Position Summary The Street Superintendent is responsible for planning, supervising, and participating in the maintenance and operation of the Town's streets, water distribution system, storm drainage, parks, public properties, and municipal equipment. This position oversees the Street Department staff, ensures public safety, responds to emergencies, and maintains compliance with state and local regulations.
Daily Duties Review and respond to utility locate requests (Exactix/811). Assign daily work orders to employees. Supervise street department personnel. Check water system for leaks or emergencies. Respond to resident concerns and service requests. Inspect streets, sidewalks, alleys, and town property. Ensure equipment is fueled, cleaned, and ready for use. Complete required paperwork and documentation. Maintain communication with the Clerk-Treasurer and Town Council. Weekly Duties Mow and trim town-owned properties. Inspect all five lift stations: Campground East 1st Street West 1st Street Nye Street 7th Street Inspect storm drains and culverts. Check street signs and replace damaged signs. Repair potholes as needed. Inventory shop supplies and materials. Inspect vehicles and equipment. Review employee safety practices. Meet with department employees regarding ongoing projects. Monthly Duties Complete water meter readings (around the 20th of each month). Attend Town Council meetings. Attend department/team meetings. Review equipment maintenance schedules. Order supplies and materials. Review department budget needs. Update maintenance records.
