What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Maintenance Worker position at TOWN OF CHINO VALLEY?
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, maintains the Town’s parks and facilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cleans and maintains assigned Town facilities.
• Maintains parks equipment.
• Supports turf agronomic and maintenance program for Town parks, facilities and grounds.
• Performs weed abatement; removes trash; cleans bathrooms.
• Makes repairs of vandalized areas.
• Operates irrigation equipment for turf coverage; makes adjustments and repairs to sprinkler lines, timers and valves.
• Operate machinery/equipment used in cemetery site opening and closing. Interment site work as assigned.
• Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values and goals of the Town by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
• Supports the relationship between the Town and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors and Town staff; enthusiastically promotes the Town’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in landscaping or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience with heavy equipment including excavator, backhoe, dump truck, hydraulic auger, sod cutter, and tampers.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Possession of a valid Herbicide Applicator License for turf and ornamentals or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Required Knowledge of:
• Turf and tree management practices and methods.
• Landscaping methods and practices.
• Operation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems
• Rules and regulations for chemical spraying.
• Equipment safety practices.
Required Ability to:
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Town staff, contractors, vendors, suppliers and the general public.
• Maintain written records.
• Use chemical spraying equipment.
• Use landscaping equipment.
• Use various power and hand tools.
• Maintain an inventory of material, supplies and equipment.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
• Work is performed primarily in an outdoor work environment. May be required to perform a full range of motion with lifting and/or carrying supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 100 pounds. May be exposed to heavy equipment and machinery. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals. May be exposed to infectious diseases.
