Communications Administrator (Part-Time)

Position Details

- Position Type: Part-Time (20–25 hours per week)
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
- Starting Pay Range: $20.00 – $22.75 per hour
- Location: Chestertown, Maryland
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Public Outreach
- Promote positive community engagement through proactive communication efforts
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and promoting Town events, meetings, programs, and initiatives
- Serve as a liaison between the Town and residents, businesses, and community organizations
- Attend community meetings and public events as assigned
- Respond to routine public inquiries and direct concerns appropriately
Communications & Media
- Create and manage content for the Town’s social media platforms
- Draft press releases, newsletters, announcements, and public notices
- Support consistent Town branding and messaging
- Monitor social media engagement and public feedback
Website & Digital Content
- Maintain and update the Town website with current information and community resources
- Coordinate with departments to ensure timely and accurate online content
- Assist with graphics, photography, video, and other digital communication materials
Administrative & Project Support
- Support special projects and community initiatives
- Assist with communication efforts related to municipal projects and services
- Maintain records and archives of communication materials
- Help coordinate and support Town events and activities
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, public administration, political science, or a related field preferred
- At least one year of experience in communications, marketing, public engagement, customer service, administrative support, or a related field preferred
- Experience in local government, nonprofit, or community organizations is a plus
- Valid driver’s license required

Work Environment
