Seasonal Streets Maintenance Worker I

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Seasonal operations include:

• Asphalt repair (path and pothole)
• Crack Sealing
• Bridge Painting
• Roadside maintenance (mowing, trimming, trash pick-up, washout repair)
• Assist Streets Maintenance Technicians with day-to-day operations
• Learn and operate various tools such as leaf blowers, chainsaws, mowers, string trimmers, construction hand tools like shovels, rakes, lutes, and tampers
• Performs other duties assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older

License and/or Certifications: Must possess a valid Driver's License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to convey information in written, verbal, and electronic form
• Ability to follow written and oral directions
• Mechanical aptitude; baseline knowledge of mechanical knowledge used; ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled and some skilled tasks in relation to street operations and maintenance

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Moderate to heavy physical work to include lifting 75lbs or less, carrying 75lbs or less, and pushing and/or pulling 50lbs or less 
• Ability to physically access all work sites to perform duties, potentially in any weather and environmental conditions
• Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting  
• Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles
• Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
• Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Works primarily outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions
• Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals

EQUIPMENT USED:

• This position may require the occasional use of personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
