Reporting to the Superintendent of Recreation Maintenance, the Recreation Maintenance Craftsman/Mechanic will be responsible to perform supervisory and manual work related to the operation of recreation maintenance equipment.

Examples of work include:
- Performs the majority of the repair and maintenance of the Recreation Maintenance equipment; diagnosis technical difficulties and makes necessary repairs and adjustments
- Performs preventative maintenance work
- Performs emergency repairs in the field as necessary and responds to other related emergencies
- Works with Superintendent of Recreation Maintenance and Foreman on establishing a priority list of repairs
- Maintains appropriate and accurate records of repair and maintenance logs
- Coordinates the purchase of necessary parts for the repair of equipment with the Superintendent of Recreation Maintenance
- Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment
- Performs related duties as required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of landscape construction and maintenance experience
- Valid Class B CDL, MA Hoisting Engineers License, and Certified Pool Operator License
- Knowledge of principles, procedures, methods and techniques involved in the repair and maintenance of departmental equipment
- Mechanical abilities to repair and maintain a variety of equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good public relations
