The Town of Brewster is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Town Accountant. This position performs accounting and administrative work in assisting with the maintenance and processing of all Town financial records, accounts, transactions, and reports.
Under the general direction of the Finance Director the Assistant Town Account will monitor expenditures of town funds, examine town and school bills and payrolls for appropriateness, accuracy, and availability of funds before payment. Process weekly payroll and accounts payable warrants. Responsible for posting accounts payable and payroll warrants, cash receipts, and monthly journal entries into the General Ledger. Assists the Finance Director in the preparation of monthly reconciliations of cash and receivables, and required local, state, and federal reports.
Associate’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of accounting or business experience, municipal experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Munis software experience a plus. The ideal candidate is a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Interested? This is a full-time 37.5 hour a week position covered under the Town’s OPEIU Union Agreement, with a starting pay range of $33.29 - $37.47 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
