Title: Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Public Works
Overall Job Objective: Supervises the activities of the Fleet
Maintenance division, including
scheduling and prioritizing maintenance and repair work orders. Manages
the Maintenance
Mechanic crew. Provides support to Maintenance Mechanics in the
execution of complex repair
and maintenance tasks on automotive and mechanical equipment for the
Town.
Work Schedule: Monday Friday; 40 hours per week. Due to the Public Works
Department\'s
24/7 operational requirements, this position may also require a
substantial amount of evening
and weekend work, often without advance notice. Participation in on-call
rotations is mandatory
and overtime as approved and required.
Wage: FY26 \$32.90 per hour / FY27 \$33.56 per hour
A Town vehicle is provided. Alternatively, there is an option of an
annual vehicle stipend of
\$3,000 per year, paid in increments of \$1,500 two times per fiscal
year.
Title of Immediate Supervisor: Highway Superintendent or DPW Director
for all actions
performed.

1\) Provides strategic advice and technical guidance on all Fleet
Maintenance division procedural
And Policy Matters, Which Include The Following
a\) Develop and implement internal controls and processes to ensure the
accuracy and
integrity of data.
b\) Development of major policies and procedures, encourage personnel to
be
accountable for their work and take ownership in what they do, while
embracing
change and demonstrating positive leadership.

inspections, and
regulatory compliance are accurately maintained.

solutions to uphold integrity and trust in the Town government.
2\) Works in a collaborative manner to oversee and manage programs, team
efforts, and the

a\) Supervises, assigns, inspects and participates in the operation and
maintenance of
equipment and machinery for the purpose of routine maintenance and
maintains
the necessary records.
b\) Attend meetings or training to keep abreast of the latest
development of new trends
and innovations in their field; directs the incorporation of new
developments into
program areas as appropriate.
c\) Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
d\) Directs related administrative activities including budget
preparation and execution,
purchasing, perso nnel selection, reports, employee training, and
correspondence in
administration of projects.
e\) Maintains regulatory records and reports pertaining to the
operation.
f\) Assists the Maintenance Mechanics in performing repairs on the
equipment,
preparing equipment for seasonal conditions, field repairs, and
including State of VT
motor vehicle inspections of town vehicles.
g\) Assumes responsibility for the proper operation of the division.
h\) Write and document formal performance evaluations of Mechanics,
participate in a
variety of personnel actions including hiring selection, counseling,
training,
promotion, discipline, and termination processes.
i\) Promotes and enforces workplace safety policies and regulatory
compliance
including OSHA and VOSHA requirements.
j\) Responsible for the training of other DPW staff in obtaining their
CDL licenses.
