Public Works Driver/Operator/Laborer
Town of Bowdoinham
Looking for a job where every day is different and every day matters to your neighbors? The Town of Bowdoinham is hiring a full-time Public Works Driver/Operator/Laborer to help keep our roads safe and our community running.
Public Works is the backbone of the Town, the department that keeps everything else moving. One day you're plowing before dawn so folks can get to work safely. The next, you're maintaining equipment or facilities. Public Works does everything from grading, ditching and tree removal to park and cemetery maintenance to helping set up for town events, so no two weeks look the same. The work you do is visible, all over town, every day, and is appreciated.
What you'll do: Operate trucks and equipment for snow removal, sanding, and salting; build and maintain roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems; grade and compact gravel roads; repair culverts and ditches; install signs; maintain parks and cemeteries; maintain department vehicles, equipment, and facilities; and take on other duties and special projects as assigned.
What we're looking for: A valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record is preferred. You should be comfortable working outdoors in all weather, ready to lift and move materials, and available for winter maintenance duty from October through May. We offer a competitive wage based on your experience and qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package. Successful applicants must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
