What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Laborer position at Town of Berwick?
The Town of Berwick is accepting applications for a Seasonal Laborer to join our Public Works team. This position plays an important role in maintaining safe roads, sidewalks, and public spaces during the winter season. This position will run from October 1st through March 31st.
Responsibilities include:
· Operating trucks, snowplows, loaders, and other equipment for snow removal and winter maintenance.
· Performing routine equipment checks and minor maintenance.
· Assisting with manual labor tasks such as shoveling, raking, loading/unloading materials, and trash removal.
· Supporting landscaping and tree trimming around town property as needed.
· Maintaining safety, efficiency, and professionalism on the job at all times.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
· At least one year of experience in construction, maintenance, or related work (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
· Ability to operate public works vehicles and equipment safely and independently.
· Willingness to work long hours in adverse weather conditions.
Work Environment:
This is a physically demanding position requiring heavy lifting (up to 80 lbs.), extended periods of standing and moving, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Hours: This position is expected to work at least 20 hours per week but up to 40 depending on weather conditions.
