Description
Duties include supporting roads, fleet, parks, and building operations through string trimming, trash pickup, shop maintenance, weed mitigation, trail and park maintenance, road and drainage maintenance, light fleet support, and building maintenance. Seasonal Maintenance Worker will be outside for an extended period of time and must be 16 years old or older. Work schedule is a four-day workweek, either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., and reports directly to the Public Works Manager or Public Works Director.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with road and drainage maintenance by constructing, repairing, maintaining, and cleaning drainage structures; inspecting and clearing obstructions from storm drains; and helping with street, shoulder, alley, sidewalk, and traffic control maintenance activities.
• Cleans debris from streets, gutters, sidewalks, alleys, creek corridors, trails, parks, parking areas, and stairways.
• Completes trash removal and pickup from Town receptacles.
• Responds to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding conditions of streets, alleys, sidewalks, the creek, gutters, and stairways.
• Cleans and maintains work areas, shops, tools, equipment, vehicles, public grounds, park facilities, and building exterior areas.
• Performs parks and grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, weed removal, landscaping, trail and playground upkeep, tree trimming and removal within public rights-of-way, installing landscaping materials, and maintaining water features and irrigation systems.
• Assists with fleet operations by cleaning vehicles and equipment, checking fuel and fluid levels, helping with routine inspections, maintaining shop organization, and reporting maintenance needs or equipment issues.
• Assists with building maintenance by supporting custodial tasks, room and facility setup, minor repairs, painting, basic preventative maintenance, and identifying safety or repair concerns in Town facilities.
• Supports roads, fleet, parks, and building crews during seasonal projects, weather response, special events, and other Public Works operational needs.
• Responds to support for special events, such as Town Cleanup days, Bennett Days, etc.
• Understands and complies with verbal and written instructions and equipment manuals.
• Detects equipment malfunctions and takes proper corrective action.
• May work independently.

Education/ Experience:
Enrolled in High school or the equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Math Ability:

Physical Requirements:
This position requires strenuous physical work. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, climb, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, perform repetitive motion, and repeatedly twist the upper body. Specific visual abilities required for this position include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Work is predominantly performed in a field environment and occasionally performed in an office environment with regular exposure to heavy vehicle traffic conditions, chemicals, frequent street-traffic and equipment noise, working near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, working in all weather conditions, working with constant interruptions, and risk of electrical shock and explosive gases. The incumbent is often exposed to wet, humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, vibration, and work in high and precarious places.

Includes but is not limited to the following: utility vehicle, pressure power washers, air compressor, tools, wheelbarrows, rakes and rollers, string trimmer, hand mower, hand saw/pruners, edger, power hand, and hydraulic tools.
