Position Title: EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/LABORER
This is a full-time 40 hours per week position with occasional overtime. Base pay is $18.00 to $28.00 per hour based on applicant's qualifications. Includes enrollment in the state retirement program, 9 paid holidays, and vacation time. Employee will receive $600.00 per month for health insurance.
This position within the Road Department is intended to provide for the efficient delivery of public works services to residents of and visitors to the community.
As such, the Equipment Operator operates one or more types of motorized equipment in the performance of building maintenance and construction, park maintenance and construction, and road maintenance and construction, as well as manual labor as required by the needs of the department and requirements of the Town.
Assignments may include janitorial tasks, equipment maintenance and repair duties, and emergency and non-emergency on-call assignments as necessary.
The employee must operate all equipment and machinery with care to ensure the preservation of municipal equipment, prevent injury to municipal employees and the general public, and prevent property damage. This position is accountable to the Road Supervisor and Town Board.
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Must have good working knowledge of standard practice in operation and repair of heavy equipment; maintenance of public buildings and facilities; work on roads, parks, erosion control, etc.
Must be capable of carrying out tasks efficiently and productively in absence of supervisor. Must be able to operate all equipment including loaders, trucks, backhoes, graders, etc.
Must have possession of, and maintain as a condition of employment, a valid Wisconsin DL and CDL with all endorsements as may be required by the Town.
Knowledge of safety practices required for Town of Bayview operations.
Must have, and maintain as a condition of employment, a safe driving record.
