What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Training Hub Instructor position at Town of Barnstable?
Training coordination and on-site support services to municipal public
health staff in the Southeast region of Massachusetts, including the
islands of Martha?s Vineyard and Nantucket. Position works in close
partnership with Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH)
Central Trainers, who provide foundational and classroom-based
instruction, and supports the hands-on competency training component for
local public health inspectional staff. The Instructor helps municipal
staff apply standardized inspection methods and supports the uniform
enforcement of applicable codes and regulations. All other related work
as required. SUPERVISION Works under the general direction of the Public
Health Shared Services Program Manager (or their designee) and in
accordance with professional standards. Responsible duties require
professional judgment in promoting and implementing public health
programs. Expected to perform a variety of duties related to training
hub coordination, on-site logistics, and participant support for the
enforcement and interpretation of public health, sanitation, and
environmental laws and regulations. MDPH Central Trainers deliver the
primary curriculum; the Training Hub Instructor supports practical
Application Of That Curriculum. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Essential

the designated Public Health Excellence (PHE) leads/coordinators for the
Training Hub to review PHE information and data regarding training gaps
and needs, and identify potential staff for training. Attends trainings
provided by MDPH Central Trainers. Expected to be prepared to raise
region-specific challenges that may inform the training approach. Full
