What are the responsibilities and job description for the Arborist/Deputy Tree Warden position at Town of Barnstable?
Provides administrative, technical, supervisory work, & highly skilled
hands-on manual work, in planning/managing & executing the care of
street & park shade trees including the planting, designing, relocating,
trimming & removal of trees & spraying for pest control; all other
duties as assigned. Additionally responsible for assisting the Tree
Warden in planning, managing, supervising, & executing general roadside
maintenance. Minimum Qualifications: Associate of Science degree in
Arboriculture, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or related field
preferred; over five years of experience in tree maintenance & pest
control, with at least two years of supervisory experience; or any
equivalent combination of education & experience. Certification as an
arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture or the
Massachusetts Arborists Association. CDL Class B Driver\'s license &
Massachusetts Hoisting licenses required; & the ability to obtain
Pesticide License Within Probationary Period. Additional Qualifications
Knowledge of the principles & practices of arboriculture. Familiarity
with state & federal rules & regulations governing arboriculture,
horticulture, & tree maintenance (including safety requirements).
Technical knowledge & experience in problems commonly encountered by a
municipal Tree Warden or Arborist. Ability to manage & implement a large
municipal-scale tree maintenance & roadside maintenance program. Ability
to work effectively in precarious positions at considerable heights
above the ground. Ability to instruct, train & direct subordinates.
Ability to help develop & effectively manage budgets. Ability to operate
all types of equipment related to tree maintenance. Ability to keep
detailed records. Demonstrated ability to meet & deal appropriately &
effectively with a large variety of people. Ability to assist in the
professional public presentations to citizens or Town Leaders.
Demonstrated ability to plan, assign & supervise the work of
subordinates; & to evaluate their performance. Ability to work in a
close-knit, team environment. Ability to use computers, & programs
including Microsoft Office & database programs. \$2,872.23 bi-weekly,
