Position Summary: The Town of Baileyton is accepting applications for a municipal position. This position vacancy announcement shall remain posted for a period of twenty-one (21) calendar days, which exceeds the minimum fourteen (14) calendar day requirement for municipal position vacancy notices under Alabama law.

Compensation: $16.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Benefits: Optional Insurance allowance of $600.00 per month.

Job Description - Town Clerk
Position Overview
The Town Clerk serves as the administrative backbone of the Town of Baileyton, providing
essential record-keeping, financial management support, resident assistance, and
coordination with the Mayor, Town Council, employees, and community. This role requires
strong bookkeeping skills, excellent communication, and a warm, welcoming presence.
Core responsibilities
Council support: Prepare agendas and minutes for town council meetings, and provide administrative assistance to the council and mayor.
Record management:
Serve as the official custodian of all town records, including ordinances, resolutions, meeting minutes, and archival materials. This also involves managing the municipal code and providing copies of public records. Bookkeeping; Financial Duties: Maintain AP/AR, reconciliations, budgeting assistance,deposits, reporting, and compliance.
Election administration:
Act as the chief election official, which includes coordinating municipal elections and ensuring they are conducted properly.
Fiscal duties:
Assist with fiscal administration, which can include processing claims,and handling financial documents.
Public information:
Serve as a point of contact for the public, answering questions and responding to concerns. They must also provide official legal notices and respond to public records requests.
Official duties: Attest to the authenticity of official documents and affix the town seal.
Additional duties
Process applications and appointments for boards and
Provide notary services.
Handle other assigned duties, such as preparing reports and correspondence.
Research Local, State and Federal Grants and application processes
Manage Event Calendars, Rental agreements and building rentals
Community Relations:
Serve as a warm, friendly, helpful face for Baileyton residents and
visitors; support staff and council. Event Support: Assist with planning and promoting town events including Bargain Day, parades, senior activities, and holiday events.
Social Media;
Communications: Manage town social media pages, announcements,
updates, and community notices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial software.
Prior municipal or administrative experience is preferred but not required.
Strong customer-service and communication skills.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, QuickBooks (or similar).
Assisting with public events

Willing to work cooperatively with residents, council, and employees.
