Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Permanent Substitute (Sept. - Dec. 2026)

This BCBA position is within the APS Student Support Program (SSP) at Doherty Middle School. SSP is an inclusion-based program for students with Sp.Ed. for a primary Emotional Impairment who struggle with externalizing behavior resulting from emotional needs. The SSP BCBA is partnered with a Sp.Ed. teacher and highly supported by the school psychologist, social work staff, and nursing. Program oversight is provided by the district’s Clinical Director in partnership with building administration
 
The goal of this program is to provide students with multidisciplinary emotional, behavioral, social, and academic support through case management, care coordination, behavioral support, academic support, and curricula for skills-building.

• Have experience working within schools, at the middle level.
• Have experience working with children presenting with emotional and behavioral health challenges.
• Have comfort marrying a foundational ABA approach to a multidisciplinary conception of a students’ needs. 
• Have an understanding of collaborative problem-solving strategies/solutions.
• Are comfortable supporting students in the inclusion classroom as well as running and coordinating small group skills-building curricula.
• Are able to maintain an even and professional disposition when students are distressed.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Working With SSP Students:
 

• School-based management of SSP students:
  • Follow and implement programmatic protocol, such as case reviews, referrals, entry meetings with parents and staff, etc.
  • Organize and maintain student information associated with each student, including student needs tracking forms, data collection results, collateral information, notes regarding parent and staff updates, etc.
• Consultation:
  • Provide continuous teacher and staff consultation to promote inclusion of students in the general education setting. 
  • Provide push-in, in-class support for students.
  • Design classroom-based interventions, and training for general staff, to promote in-class functioning and access to academic instruction.
• Assessment, Intervention,  and Progress Monitoring:
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) for students 
  • Conduct student surveys and the collection of survey data from teachers and parents. (i.e. rating scales)
  • Create BIPs for students
  • Use progress monitoring tools to measure progress towards goals.
  • Provide skills-building interventions for students.

• Master’s degree with an emphasis in ABA, Psychology, Sp.Ed. or a related field
• BCBA Certification through the BACB
• MA State Licensure as an Applied Behavior Analyst
