The Town of Acton is seeking a full-time benefitted Light Equipment Operator union position with the Highway Department reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Operations.
Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to, providing light equipment operation. In addition, performing tasks associated with the construction and maintenance of town ways and performing manual labor, using rakes, shovels and other related equipment. The applicant hired for this position must be available for snow removal and other emergency work.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalency required with a minimum of two (2) years of public works or other similar construction related experience and equipment operation experience. A valid driver’s license. CDL Class B endorsement or greater with an airbrake license required or able to maintain within two (2) years. Massachusetts Hoisting Licenses 1D(Forklift), 4E (Catch Basin), and Class 2B or greater are required at hire or able to obtain within one (1) year of hire. OSHA-10 obtained within one (1) year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: OSHA Excavation Competent Persons certification; experience and knowledge of the principles and practices involved in public works and the materials, methods and techniques of public works construction.
Pay Rate: Grade A 4, starting $27.8785/hour, $57,987.28/year.
