The Town of Acton is seeking a highly organized and collaborative Human Resources professional to join our team as a Human Resources Generalist. This full-time position plays an important role in supporting Town employees, maintaining accurate personnel records, coordinating payroll changes, and assisting with benefits and leave administration. The HR Generalist serves as a knowledgeable and approachable resource for employees, retirees, and department heads, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, benefits, and employment matters.
General Duties and Responsibilities: The Human Resources Generalist performs a wide range of administrative and technical duties in support of the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. Work includes maintaining and updating employee information in MUNIS; coordinating with Payroll and Finance to ensure accurate pay and benefits deductions; and administering and tracking employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, PFML, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation. The position responds to employee and retiree inquiries, supports annual Open Enrollment activities, and assists in benefits processing in coordination with the Benefits Coordinator. The Generalist drafts correspondence and reports, assists with compliance documentation and HR audits, and contributes to process improvement initiatives. The role also provides support for employee training, wellness, and recognition programs, and ensures accurate, confidential recordkeeping in accordance with Town policies and state and federal employment laws.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a similar/related field; plus 3 years’ experience in human resources, payroll, or benefits administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: MUNIS and prior municipal experience, SHRM Certification
Pay Rate: H-10; starting pay $65,821.34-74,082.84 per year
Benefits: Hybrid or Flex work schedule is available after probationary period of 6 months, up to a $425 fitness club reimbursement program (if enrolled in Town Health Insurance plan). Health, Dental, Vision, and an attractive pension system are just some of our competitive insurance and benefits. The Town pays 75% of the Health Insurance cost.
