Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures
- Assist dentists during various treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient privacy
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort during procedures
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort levels throughout treatments to ensure safety and well-being
- Support infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist when needed, ensuring smooth clinic operations
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, records, and coding for insurance purposes using Epic or similar systems
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and oral health practices to promote ongoing wellness
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is advantageous
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and electronic health record management is essential
- Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures, 3D scanners, and medical imaging equipment is desirable
- Familiarity with infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and OSHA regulations ensures safe practice standards
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry enhances patient care quality
- Experience assisting with various dental specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics will be beneficial
