What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Assistant Teacher position at Town Center Childcare Ministry?
Job Summary:
The after school floating position assists the lead teachers with their closing duties and end of day activities, as well as help with tasks such as dishes, laundry, etc as needed. This position is part-time and ideal for high school or college students who are passionate about working with children. Candidates must have the ability to work Monday-Friday (2:30 or 3:30-5:30) and be able to provide for the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional well-being of children ages 2-12 years. This job is for those who want to make a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the lead teacher in their duties.
- Ensuring a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment.
- Introducing children to age-appropriate and engaging activities and materials.
- Maintaining ratios and helping provide more attentive and individualized care.
- Supervising and interacting with children as they play with age-appropriate materials.
- Assisting children with feedings and supervising mealtimes.
- Changing diapers as needed and frequently when working with infants and toddlers.
- Monitoring and assisting children in the bathroom.
- Effectively communicating with parents regarding children's progress or concerns.
- Maintaining professional and positive relationships with parents, children, and staff.
- Understanding and following licensing regulations and program policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Have CPR and First Aid Certification, or be willing to complete courses upon hire
- Ability to perform tasks such as sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting children
- Basic knowledge of child development principles and educational practices
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in early childhood education
