What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Science Teacher position at Tower Hill School?
Tower Hill School seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Middle School Science Teacher beginning in August of 2026. The ideal candidate will have a broad academic background in the sciences and a passion for working with middle school students. The candidate should be well versed in experiential science education to help develop our curriculum. The candidate would be a team player, joining a close-knit faculty where each grade level has a team of teachers cooperating to advance middle school science. This is a full-time, benefitted, 10-month position.

Primary Responsibilities
- Teach four sections of middle school science
- Specific grades and content determined based on candidate’s experience and needs of the department
- Participate in regular conferences with students, parents and colleagues
- Engage in the design and development of curricular materials with colleagues
- Provide clear instructions, supervision and confidence leading Middle School students through hands-on lab work
- Serve as an advisor for up to 10 students
- Participate in faculty collaborations and meetings
- Assist with student supervision and chaperoning
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or related field (master’s degree preferred)
- Experience in student centered education and differentiation
- Sensitivity to the developmental stages and well-being of children
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal
- Enthusiasm for professional growth, academic excellence and creative teaching
- Ability to plan and organize educational content
- Commitment to broad participation in school life
- Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
- Commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of students
- Demonstrated safety/laboratory experience
