What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forestry Crew Member Seasonal position at Tower Grove Park?
Tower Grove Park is known for its unique, historic Victorian architecture, its extensive network of trails, and its signature community events and activities such as the Farmer’s Market and the Festival of Nations. However, one of the main attractions for our 2.5 million annual visitors is the 289 acres of green open spaces and woodlands that serve as a natural oasis in the middle of a densely populated, diverse urban area. The living landscape of Tower Grove Park includes over 7,900 trees, 1,700 woody shrubs, stunning horticulture, and many acres of grassy turf in which Park visitors can relax, socialize, exercise, study, and enjoy nature.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Operate a variety of equipment to complete general forestry maintenance including watering of trees, mulching, fallen branch clean up.
- Work with the forestry team to accomplish tree and shrub pruning and removal goals.
- Work with the forestry team to complete tree and shrub planting goals and learn how to properly plant woody plant species.
- Removal of trash and other debris from pavilions, picnic sites, and landscaped and turf areas.

Tower Grove Park seeks team members who enjoy being outside, meeting people and have a general inclination to help people. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a public facing role on a team and comfortable interacting with guests on a regular basis. A successful applicant will demonstrate that they have attention to detail, practice good communication skills, and display positive customer service skills.
This limited term, seasonal position will work on the Forestry team and will report to the Forestry Supervisor. There may be times that we cross train into the Horticulture and Maintenance departments as well.
WAGES AND SCEHDULE
Hourly pay is $15.00 per hour for 1000 hours. This position does not qualify for benefits.
The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm.
Term Start Date: March 2024
Term End Date: November 2026
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants are required to pass pre-employment drug (excluding THC) and background checks. Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
This position includes exposure to a wide variety of outdoor working conditions, including but not limited to dust, snow, rain, working at heights, and physical hazards associated with working in this environment. The ability to lift 50lbs is required.
