JOB SUMMARY
|
Maintain a safe, clean and efficient educational environment. Oversee all maintenance, custodial and mechanical needs for the district, providing direction and supervision to all custodial and maintenance personnel.

|
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
|
- Manage the maintenance operations of the school district to ensure a safe, efficient and clean environment for all stakeholders.
- Review work orders and facility use to prioritize assignments.
- Schedule, repair, maintain and install equipment to ensure a safe environment for staff, students and community members while in the district.
- Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs for district equipment and physical plants.
- Requisition, purchase and maintain tools, equipment and supplies required for operation.
- Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, screening and assignment of all maintenance/custodial staff.
- Provide needed training for maintenance/custodial staff members.
- Administer personnel policies; evaluate district maintenance, head building custodian and crossing guard staff.
- Complete performance evaluations on all custodial staff with the head building custodians.
- Solicit bids and quotes for equipment, materials and supplies; negotiate with vendors.
- Prepare and maintain all required records.
- Serve as coordinator and liaison between architects, contractors and school administrators.
- Consider input from stakeholders relating to physical plant issues.
- Coordinate facility inspections to ensure district meets state and federal requirements for, but not limited to, equipment, boilers, elevators and integrated pest management.
- Coordinate and schedule staff for all supervised district activities.
- Serve as a positive role model for students in all aspects of performance, demonstrating pride in the honorable profession of public education.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
|
- Explore and facilitate the implementation of procedures to enhance the efficiency of maintenance operations.
- Participate as an active member of the Towanda Area School District Safety Committee.
- Participate in meetings, workshops and conferences as required.
- Support public education and student achievement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the business manager .

QUALIFICATIONS
|
- Associate’s degree in maintenance related field
- Must possess experience and understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC, electrical systems and the trades.
- Must possess knowledge of regulations affecting maintenance operations
- Must possess excellent organizational skills
- Must possess excellent math skills
- Must be punctual, dependable and able to work independently
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
- Submission of Federal Criminal History Record in accordance with Act 114 of 2006
