Role
- Manage and activate a programme of targeted B2B sales opportunities for island of Ireland industry including third party B2B events in Western USA that deliver business impact.
- Manage strategic partnerships with upscale retail consortia to maximise growth opportunities from leisure segments with greatest potential in Western USA
- Develop and manage key travel trade accounts and identify and cultivate new accounts in Western USA that will deliver incremental holidaymakers to the island of Ireland, with a specific focus on high revenue leisure travel segments.
Note: The post-holder must be willing to travel and work as part of wider Tourism Ireland US team. This job will involve some travel and unsocial hours including evenings and weekends.
Key Results Area
- Work with the Manager of Western USA and Trade and Industry Engagement Manager New York to develop and implement a B2B strategy for the region as part of the wider US plan and activate a targeted programme of B2B activities in Western USA.
- Plan and activate west coast sales mission targeting US travel advisors in key DMAs to engage with island of Ireland industry and US tour operator partners.
- Work with Western USA Manager and New York based Trade and Industry team to implement Tourism Ireland’s luxury strategy through the activation of Tourism Ireland led programs and third-party industry events and platforms.
- Manage partnerships with upscale retail consortia and activate sales and marketing initiatives in Western USA to generate business for island of Ireland tourism businesses.
- Manage relationships with key accounts located in Western USA including tour operators, retail consortia and luxury specialists; identify and nurture new high value accounts including LGBTQ that will deliver incremental holidaymakers to the island of Ireland; ensure alignment with national Key Account Management strategy via close collaboration with New York colleagues.
- Develop and execute an effective B2B marketing and communications plan for the region as part of the wider nationwide programme; provide new platforms for in-market and island of Ireland partners; plan, organise and recruit for events and exhibitions, deliver tailor-made presentations and roll-out collaborative trade activities. Ensure all activities and events are aligned with priority consumer segments and are designed to deliver a pipeline of revenue for island of Ireland partners.
- Keep key accounts regularly updated with product news and opportunities through a well targeted communications program, including webinars, collaborative trade partner activities, e-zines and the delivery of tailor-made presentations
- Collaborate with island of Ireland industry partners to execute market initiatives and lead generation to drive business impact.
- Act as point of contact for Failte Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland and island of Ireland industry partners for all B2B activity in Western USA; coordinate Western USA travel trade participation at workshops in Ireland as well as educational/familiarization trips to the island of Ireland.
- Work in close collaboration with the Trade and Industry Engagement team in New York and the wider US team to ensure Western USA B2B activity aligns with and is integrated into Tourism Ireland’s national US programme of activity. Lead and contribute to national projects as required.
- Manage and monitor allocated budgets in line with financial procedures and maximise use of resources to deliver against project goals and targets.
- Evaluate and report on key business performance indicators (BPIs), drawing insight from the data to ensure continual improvements are made across all B2B activities to maximise business impact.
- Maintain the travel advisor CRM system and ensure records are complete and up to date.
- Monitor, on an ongoing basis, market trends, intelligence and competitor activities in Western USA to assist with Tourism Ireland internal management reporting and to add value to island of Ireland industry partners active in Western USA.
- Ensure adherence to the company’s GDPR compliance policies and procedures in respect of your area of work.
- Support and represent Tourism Ireland at industry events, shows, FAM trips, Team Ireland and corporate events as required. This role will involve some unsocial hours and travel.
- Such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require.
The Person
The successful candidate will possess the following experience, knowledge and skills, competencies, and qualifications:
Essential:
- Educated to degree level with a qualification in marketing / communications / travel & tourism management or other relevant discipline.
- 3-5 years relevant experience in a B2B tourism marketing, luxury travel industry sales or event management environment.
- This is a commercially focused role and will require in-depth knowledge of the US travel trade landscape, particularly in the Western USA region, along with relevant key account management and B2B sales and marketing experience preferably in the travel and tourism sector.
- Excellent working experience and knowledge of business development and key account management and event management. A record of achievement in working and building strong relationships with business partners and delivering growth.
- Proven experience and track record of achievement in the areas of B2B marketing, database management and event management.
- Results driven with an ability to innovate and develop performance driven plans.
- Strong organisational and presentation skills.
- Well-developed influencing and negotiation skills.
- Strong team player, with well-developed interpersonal skills, a proven ability to build and manage effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Excellent Budget management experience.
- A self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a busy, ever-changing environments.
- Strong IT skills including MS Office.

This role will be filled in line with Public Pay Policy at Point 1 of the relevant Salary Scale unless the successful candidate is appointed from an existing public sector role.

Salary : $86,819 - $118,376
