What are the responsibilities and job description for the Die Setter position at Tottser-Iroquois Industries LLC?
Summary:
Tool and die setters set up and adjust heavy duty power press to blank, form, or pierce metal parts using dies and feeder equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must set up progressive and line dies
- Measures and adjusts ram of press to accommodate dies in the press
- Aligns dies and sets up air cushions in the press. Bolts dies to press ram and press bed.
- Sets up press feeding, lube and safety equipment, such as pullbacks and light curtains
- Sets up palm stands and control buttons
- Positions work piece or metal strip into die and activates machine to blank, form, or pierce part.
- Repositions parts in multi stage dies for additional operation
- Inspects parts after each stroke to insure accuracy and uniformity
- Brings part to quality control for first piece approval
- Sets up chutes for parts and scrap removal
- Sets up counters and appropriate containers
- Removes dies from presses and applies appropriate die tags for repair by tool room
- Cleans and removes clamps, bolts, and debris from press die area to be ready for the next die set-up
- Must be a proficient forklift operator
- Other job responsibilities, not listed above, may be required from this position, and will be directed by the immediate supervisor
