What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Generalist position at TOTE Maritime Alaska?
TOTE Maritime Alaska, is seeking an Operations Generalist to join the team at our Anchorage, AK office.
In this position you will:
provide coverage support for TOTE Maritime Alaska clerical staff in Anchorage by training and exhibiting proficiency at multiple positions in a variety of departments (Customer Service, Finance, Terminal Operations) to effectively cover as business needs dictate.
Examples of Daily Tasks (will vary based on where coverage is being provided) Include:
- Utilize internal systems (e.g. EAM, Cargowise, Mainsail) to track container shipments
- Engage with customers via phone or email regarding questions about deliveries, pickups, etc.
- Generate reports via internal systems to be utilized by multiple departments
- Audit reports, bills of lading, and delivery schedules for accuracy
- Communicate with carriers to coordinate container logistics
- Record movement of containers and trailers entering and exiting the Anchorage terminal
- Reference quotes for Northbound and Southbound container movements
- Data entry using internal systems or Microsoft Excel
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Certifications) -
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meet federal standards required for transportation workers within 90 days or as schedule allows
- Clerical office or Customer Service experience preferred
- Proficient with Windows and MS Office Suite

- Ability to learn and utilize a variety of internal systems related to logistics
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via phone or email
- Skilled at changing tasks and responding quickly to evolving situations
- Effective time-management skills
- Ability to utilize multiple resources to independently problem solve

- Ability to follow written procedures, daily checklists, and departmental work instructions
- Ability to collaborate and cooperate with colleagues as well as work independently
