Summary/objective
The Terminal Generalist Supervisor performs all functions of a Terminal Generalist. This position reports to the Director of Operations all operational matters including cargo resolution, facility maintenance, and regulatory compliance. This individual ensures the development and training of the Terminal Generalist supports the needs of the company. This individual employs a continuous improvement mindset and monitors processes to achieve superior operational excellence.

Execute all duties and responsibilities of the terminal generalist position.
Lead the Terminal Generalist Team through support, guidance, training, and mentoring. Use available resources, tools, processes, reports, and training opportunities to ensure the terminal is exceeding customer expectations.
Coordinate team scheduling and timecard approvals according to company policy.
Work cross functionally with other business units to build relationships, identify continuous improvement opportunities, resolve issues, assess training needs, and enhance communication.
Ensure team monitors and updates HAZ segregation notes to avoid delays with the vessel operation.
Update hazardous information in TOS and release Hazardous cargo to the Cargo Operations Manager in compliance with all Hazmat CFR regulations and procedures.
Drive the development and continuous improvement of departmental operating procedures. Ensure all processes and work instructions are reviewed, documented, updated, and communicated.
Establish performance expectations for the Terminal Generalist Team and provide feedback to management.
Analyze terminal KPI metrics to maximize operational efficiency, including resolution metrics and overall team performance.
Coordinate with Government agencies assigned to regulate commerce on terminal. GOA’s include: United States Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, USDA, etc. for inspections, holds and releases.
Assign accurate GL coding to invoices associated with terminal purchases and approve.
Assist Risk department in gathering data in claim mitigation.
Auditing of purchasing and long-term contracts regarding terminal operations.
Be the primary point of contact for facility maintenance vendors.
Lead the development of recognition programs to ensure team members are recognized for their contributions and achievements.
Ensure performance issues are discussed and documented according to TOTE policy.

Required education and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field or equivalent combination of education / experience required.
State issued drivers license
Preferred education and experience
Hazardous certified and VSO/ FSO, CLTD, CPE designation preferred.
Travel required
Occasional travel required up 10%.
Work environment
This position is primarily based in an office environment located at a marine terminal/port facility. The employee performs the majority of their work indoors, using standard office equipment and computer systems. Periodically, the employee is required to work outdoors within the terminal to support customers, truck drivers, vessel operations, and cargo activities. Outdoor work may involve walking throughout the terminal, accessing operational areas, and communicating with personnel in an active industrial environment.
The employee must be able to work safely in varying weather conditions and around moving equipment, trucks, containers, and heavy machinery. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required while in operational areas of the terminal in accordance with company and port safety policies.

Office Demands
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Most work requires normal physical effort.
Requires moderate use of personal computer (word processing and spreadsheets) for compiling reports, statistical data, composing memoranda and other similar documents.
Requires occasional operation of company vehicles within the terminal to support operational activities.
