The Director of Marketing is responsible for overseeing, planning, and directing the day-to-day marketing of the hospital. This position participates in the marketing plan process through market research, market analysis, marketing tactics, and sales force oversight. This position works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Vice Presidents in ensuring the development and implementation of business and marketing plans designed to maximize the hospital’s success and public profile. In addition, the Director of Marketing is responsible for successfully positioning the organization through targeted marketing messages and branding to specific audiences.
The Director of Marketing serves as member of the leadership team, building and supporting effective collegial relationships with applicable internal and external stakeholders; and ensuring optimal operating effectiveness and strategies.
The Director of Marketing demonstrates ability to lead within the following essential domains: functional responsibility, knowledge of the health care environment, communication and relationship management, professionalism, leadership, and business skills.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations; MBA in Marketing preferred
- Minimum of four years of experience in marketing and communications within a hospital or health systems required
- Experience in leadership roles in managing and coordinating groups
- Must have excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, publishing, imaging applications and social media.
- Must have excellent skills in forecasting, market-based planning, market research techniques, and marketing communication
- Possess strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Works responsibly in a team environment as well as independently
- Manages confidential information effectively and appropriately
- Knowledge of CMS conditions of participation, CDPH state regulations, CCS, and TJC (hospital, nursing care center, and laboratory) accreditation requirements as applicable to job
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Marketing:
- Manages marketing, public relations and communications functions; responsible for marketing development, advertising, publications, website management, social media, publicity and events
- Develops marketing plans for assigned programs, which includes market analysis and financial feasibility studies
- Develops strategic plans to penetrate into feeding hospitals and insurance companies to promote the company's value proposition; target audiences are C-Suite, case managers, and medical directors
- Oversees an effective sales force
- Conducts formal and informal market research studies of physicians, patients and community to assess needs, evaluate potential markets and increase satisfaction
- Collects and compiles data regarding the effectiveness of new and existing marketing and sales activities
- Manages implementation of hospital marketing plan
- Participates in the planning, organizing and coordination of special events, open houses and tours; provides support to other departments for events; assists in promotion of events to target audiences
- Communications and Media:
- Maintains consistent ongoing internal and external communications with a variety of key customers
- Prepares press releases; provides timely and discretionary release of information about the hospital and its operations; ensures that all communications from the hospital are accurate, consistent and compliant with applicable laws, regulations and hospital policies
- Compiles news, background and position statements by interviewing staff, patients, physicians and visitors, researching subject matter and extracting data from publications and reports
- Manages media inquiries and works with hospital departments and senior management to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of disseminated information
- Oversees the hospital's web presence, and social media
- Maintains hospital identity, branding and consistent image. Provides writing/editing support and review of brochures, newsletters, and promotional materials
- Represents the organization with business leaders, physicians, community, and media
- Administration and Management:
- Performs business development related assignments as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer
- Assists in developing the annual market plan for the organization
- Completes all assignments in a timely manner, is thorough and appropriately detailed
- Manages marketing budget
- Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in regards to marketing and business plans
- Reports the effectiveness of new and existing marketing plans/activities including outcomes
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful conditions.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer
